for week 6 it was time to make the trim sheet for some of my models. This will allow my environment to be more optimized as I'm using fewer materials in engine for all my models and allows me to bake higher detail onto the low poly models.
when making the trim sheet in Maya I was thinking about what extra details I wanted to bake onto the low polys and what materials I may want on these models, It was also very important to make the high poly trim sheet bigger than the low poly so that the AO (ambient occlusion) works properly when texturing.
Another thing that had to be done was assigning IDs to each model, This will make texturing the Trim sheet a lot easier.
Once importing the Low poly model into Painter I baked the high poly onto it creating the image on the left which is a low poly trim sheet with high poly details. Then applying textures was easy using the IDs assigned before as it was as simple as holding CTRL and dragging the material on the wanted ID
