Week 4 - Uving the modular set and optimising

After creating the modular set in week 3 I set to UV the modular pieces ready to be textured in software like Substance Painter and Substance Designer. Going into this I had good confidence I wouldn't have many issues with it as I've already used Maya for 2 years in college but still going into this trying to improve what I already know like improving on edge flow/topology before UVing to get perfect models

When UVing the modular pieces the main tools I used were Automatic, Cut, Sew, Unfold, Orient shells, and Layout. While UVing the models I kept in mind trying to keep everything as clean and optimized as possible as that will help me further down the line when I have to texture these models.

optimising

When optimising my models I took into consideration what will the player see and not see if this was put into a game. With this in mind it's possible to delete faces that how hidden if for example they are hidden in another mesh as it will save how many faces have to be processed in the engine

Importing into Unreal Engine 5

After all models were UVed I imported them all into the engine to make sure they worked as intended as different software will process the models slightly differently which if not careful can cause issues like inverted normal (invisible geometry).
